Social Skills

CITG therapists have years of experience working with children with social pragmatic language disorders. Social skills we help with include perspective taking, making friends, understanding emotions, negotiating, problem solving and working in a group. We teach social skills in both individual and small group sessions (2 to 3 children). All our SLPs are trained in Social Thinking® and use the curriculum in our individual and group social skills sessions.

Speech

Our SLPs have extensive experience working with children with articulation disorders and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. (CAS). Our goal is to improve their communication skills and speech clarity. We work with children with a wide range of speech issues from simple sound errors to more complex speech motor planning difficulties. For the treatment of articulation and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), we are trained in PROMPT, Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP) and Hodson’s Cycles Approach.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT)

Is your child struggling to read fluently or understand what they are reading? Our SLPs have experience working on reading skills including decoding and comprehension. For decoding, we use the Phono-Graphix program to improve reading fluency and spelling. For reading comprehension, we work on inferencing, recalling details, retelling, identifying main ideas and summarizing texts. Our therapists are trained in Phono-Graphix, Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing and incorporate a variety of other reading techniques including close reading.

Written Expression

Does your child have difficulty putting their thoughts into writing? At CITG, we can help your child develop their written expression skills.
