Our Services

Our enthusiastic and caring team of speech-language pathologists provide individualized therapy services for your child. These are the areas we can help your child.

Language

Does your child have difficulty following directions, answering questions or expressing their thoughts? At CITG, we provide therapy for receptive or expressive language processing difficulties. Our goal is to improve your child’s communication skills for daily living. For language skills, we are trained in ABLC, Floortime/DIR, SCERTS, PECS, Hanen More than Words, Visualizing and Verbalizing and Talkies by Lindamood-Bell, Language from Carol Westby and Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP).

Social Skills

CITG therapists have years of experience working with children with social pragmatic language disorders. Social skills we help with include perspective taking, making friends, understanding emotions, negotiating, problem solving and working in a group. We teach social skills in both individual and small group sessions (2 to 3 children). All our SLPs are trained in Social Thinking® and use the curriculum in our individual and group social skills sessions.

Speech

Our SLPs have extensive experience working with children with articulation disorders and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. (CAS). Our goal is to improve their communication skills and speech clarity. We work with children with a wide range of speech issues from simple sound errors to more complex speech motor planning difficulties. For the treatment of articulation and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), we are trained in PROMPT, Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP) and Hodson’s Cycles Approach.

Feeding

Is your child a picky eater? We provide feeding therapy for picky eaters who limited foods in their diet. Our fun approach to feeding therapy is sensory and oral motor based. We believe that eating should be an enjoyable social experience. Our therapists are trained in Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Feeding Approach, Food Chaining, Talk Tools Sensory Motor Feeding Approach and Beckman Oral Motor.

Oral Motor

CITG therapists incorporate oral motor and placement techniques to improve speech and feeding development. We assess how the movement and placement of the lips, jaw, tongue, cheeks impact a child’s speech production or eating skills. Our SLPs are trained in Beckman Oral Motor, Beckman Oro-facial Deep Tissue Release, Motor Speech and Mouth Development by Diane Bahr and Talk Tools Oral Placement Therapy by Sara-Rosenfeld Johnson.

Reading

Is your child struggling to read fluently or understand what they are reading? Our SLPs have experience working on reading skills including decoding and comprehension. For decoding, we use the Phono-Graphix program to improve reading fluency and spelling. For reading comprehension, we work on inferencing, recalling details, retelling, identifying main ideas and summarizing texts. Our therapists are trained in Phono-Graphix, Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing and incorporate a variety of other reading techniques including close reading.

Written Expression

Does your child have difficulty putting their thoughts into writing? At CITG, we can help your child develop their written expression skills. Therapy focuses on the writing process including forming ideas, organizing, elaborating, using vocabulary and editing their writing. We also work on improving the mechanics of writing including spelling, punctuation and capitalization.

Executive Function

Many children struggle with planning, organization, problem solving and time management skills in their daily life. Our SLPs help children develop strategies to improve their executive function skills at home and school. We incorporate Sarah Ward’s executive functioning ideas and techniques to work on these skills.
